Malta, an island in the Mediterranean Sea.

We have been really fortunate to have nice weather in Malta most of the days at this time of the year. Unfortunately, we couldn't do the working sessions at Newark School as there were still some COVID restrictions, so we had to do them in a meeting room at a nearby hotel.

This mobility has been dedicated to "Water". We have worked on different aspects of water. But let's see what we did each day:

DAY 1

We were welcomed by Rosanne Galea, the head of Newark School Malta, and then we started with the presentations about water and sustainability created by each partner school.

In the afternoon, we visited Sliema promenade and had a welcome dinner.

DAY 2

The next day, we had a guided visit of the “Three cities”, UNESCO World Heritage Site.

After lunch, we visited Esplora Science Centre, where visitors are able to engage with science through hands-on interaction amongst other activities.

DAY 3

On Wednesday, we went for a day trip to Gozo were we visited some local places of interest and discussed about traditional music and instruments. We had to change the planned places due to the rain and wind. We visited the Ta-Pinu Church and its ex-voto gallery.

We enjoyed a great view over the Rambla Bay and the surrounding landscapes from Tal Mixta Cave.

We could also visit the salt pans of Xwejni Bay

DAY 4

The following day, we enjoyed a guided visit of Valleta, another UNESCO World Heritage Site of Malta.

We did a walking tour around the city, starting at the Triton Fountain and then to the New Parliament, Il-Berga ta' Kastilja, Upper Barrakka Gardens, where we could see the cannon firing.

Other places were: Grandmaster Palace courtyard, Palazzo Parisio, St. Paul's Cathedral, Bażilika Santwarju tal-Madonna tal-Karmnu and Fort St. Elmo.

Finally, we visited Lower Barrakka Gardens.

DAY 5

The last day, we all worked in international groups and developed a groupwork task which was the production of one poster per group about how to save water and its reasonable use, thus becoming more aware of the shortage of water.

Finally, we made a public presentation of our posters to the other groups and all the teachers.

After that we had the Closing Ceremony and then, we had a Farewell Meal all together, students and teachers.

In the afternoon, we had free time and some of us came back to Valleta, by boat, to enjoy this beautiful city a bit more.
