Back on the road. Destination: Viterbo
It has been 20 months since our last mobility in Spain. We can't believe the fight against COVID is coming to an end, or sort of. We asked for an extension of the deadline of the project and we are alloed to extend it to the 31st of August. So this has been the first mobility of the four that we are going to have this school year. It has been great to see all our partners again and go back to normal. We hope the COVID situation allows us to complete the objectives of the project by the end of the school year.
Viterbo is a beautiful old Italian town, full of history and tradition, with its Pope's Palace and the Macchina di Santa Rosa.
In ITE Statale "Paolo Savi", on our first day there, we participated in a "Fairy garden" workshop. It was a good activity to work in international groups and get to know each other.
During the mobility, we visited Piansano and its wind power plant, where an engineer explained us how the plant works, and the requirements you need to make it productive. That day, after lunch, we visited some incredible Etruscan tombs. They were amazing. And we also got the chance to see the sunset by the beach nearby.
On Wednesday, we spent the whole morning at school, working and debating on sustainable development. In the afternoon we visited Villa Lante and had a long walk in its beautiful Italian garden. That is a lovely place, full of fountains and art.
The next day, we visited Lago Vico. Unfortunately, it was raining, so we had to do most of the visit on the bus. At lunchtime, we were spoilt with some delicious food cooked and served by students from the Scuola Alberghiera di Caparola. The building of the school, next to the Farnese Palace, is very nice for big celebrations. The Farnese Palace is a magnificent palace. We visited it and took a lovely walk in its beautiful gardens.
One thing that we have enjoyed a lot in Viterbo is that all the teams have stayed at the same hotel, which was also quite close to the school and the town centre.
On Saturday, on our way back home, most of the teams went to Rome and visited this amazing city for as many hours as we could. It was beautiful.
Arrivederci, Italia. Hope to visit you again in the future. So much to see, so much to enjoy!
